About two years ago, I began recording images that caught my attention during my daily walks, using a game I had started playing. My aim was to observe my surroundings while walking and discover what my perception was able to select within a particular period.
The title of the series, “rutin” (routine), derives etymologically from the word for road and points to a structure defined by repetition. As I followed similar routes between my studio and home almost every day, I began to discover a side of the city that imposes a routine while never quite allowing one to reach it. As the city surprised me with its sudden variations, I continued to record.
What emerged as a result was a kind of city-cycle diary, following personal periods of time.
